Free Community Arts Programs at The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Center
United Nile Media Outreach along with N.A.H.M. (Washington Heights Artist Movement) are searching for youth ages 8-28 interested in the arts to participate in two exciting programs beginning March 1st and 2nd. "The Heights Through My Eyes" is a class in photography and multimedia. "To Crush a Rose in Concrete",us a dramatic arts and script writing program that will end with a production of an original work written and performed by participants. These classes will be offered FREE OF CHARGE and space is limited, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible. WE NEED YOU! WE HAVE TO HIT THE STREETS! WE NEED to show young people that this is how much they matter to us,that we are willing to go to them. We have to try something new, the OLD MODEL ISN'T WORKING! Starting tomorrow, all the way through next week's open registration, we need volunteers willing to hit the street and engage these young people in their element. We NEED to be hands on. OPEN REGISTRATION Open Registration will be held Feb 23rd-25th, 2011 from 10am-6pm at the historic Malcolm X & Betty Shabazz Memorial & Educational Center, located at 3940 Broadway (between 165th and 166th Street).
